At Little Canela Co., we believe that the kitchen isn't just a place where meals are made—it is a sacred space for discovery, connection, and growth. When we invite children to become active participants in their food from the very beginning, we do more than just feed them: we build lifelong confidence, curiosity, and a loving relationship with whole food nourishment.

The Story Behind I Can Cook! 

As a Holistic Health Coach and Nurse Practitioner (as well as mothers), we spent years studying how real, nutrient-dense foods nourish our minds and bodies. But when it came to bringing those principles into my own home with little ones, we realized something was missing.

Most toddler activities in the kitchen were either too abstract, too restrictive, or centered around sugar-laden treats. I wanted a way for my toddlers to independently chop, mix, measure, and serve real, wholesome meals—without needing a parent to read (and repeat) every word of a recipe to them.

That’s how Little Canela Co. was born!

Inspired by Montessori principles of independence and visual learning, we created I Can Cook!—a fully visual, step-by-step cookbook designed for pre-readers. Using clear, joyful illustrations and simple, child-safe steps, our book allows little chefs to take the lead, explore nutrient-dense ingredients through sensory play, and take genuine pride in serving their family.

• Independence First: Children are far more capable than we often give them credit for. Given the right scaled tools and visual guides, toddlers can chop, pour, and create on their own.

• Nourishment over Battles: When kids help prepare their food, dinner table battles dissolve into excitement and pride.

• Embrace the Mess: Spilled flour and cracked eggshells aren't mistakes—they are hands-on sensory math, motor skill practice, and core memories in the making!
